Overland Park, KS, January 13, 2009 – With most of today’s business world affected by the economic downturn during the last quarter of 2008, it is not uncommon to learn about increased layoffs, corporate closures and even bankruptcies. Not everyone, however, has been adversely affected by these doldrums. To the contrary, Global Connections, Inc.® continues to add new members, maintain sales and has recently moved into a new corporate headquarters double the size of its previous building to accommodate its growing business.
The new 25,000 square foot, two-story building at 5360 College Blvd. in Overland Park, Kansas, replaces office space less than half its size and enables Global Connections to house all of its nearly 100 corporate headquarters employees in one building. Previously, they had occupied areas in three different buildings within the same office complex. Now all offices are combined, making for greater efficiencies of operation.
Departments housed in the new office building include accounting, administration, collections, buying services, condominium inventory management, contract administration, creative design, travel, human resources, information technologies, member services, software engineering and the sports division.
Additional offices housing about 75 member services and property management professionals are located in Daytona Beach, Clearwater and Orlando, Florida, and in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
As a leader in the growing travel industry, Global Connections fullfils the Global Discovery Vacations travel club with a member base of over 150,000. During 2008, members used over 28,000 condominium
weeks in almost 700 resorts located from Hawaii to the Caribbean. The flexibility and optional activity fee of the Global product allows for greater fulfillment satisfaction of the members travel requests. Partner alliances with exchange and cruise organizations, along with owned and leased properties, provide on-demand locations in popular vacation destinations around the world for the company’s expanding member base. Since its formation in 1996, the company has continued to enjoy growth in sales, year after year. By year-end 2008, GCI experienced an annual sales volume of $78,500,000 averaging approximately $1.5m per week in gross sales revenue.
Global Connections has developed and owns many of its properties with resorts currently located throughout the State of Florida, and in California, Tennessee and Colorado. The company also owns multiple resort condominium units in Florida, Hawaii, Missouri, Nevada, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
Global Connections’ 28 sales centers are located in 20 states and are distributors of its travel club product, Global Discovery Vacations, which offers Star Credits, similar to timeshare’s points-based programs, designed to allow members to select programs to fit their lifestyle and budget.
